CALGARY—As a Mandarin teacher at Calgary's Father Lacombe Catholic high school, Wanda Tong thought bringing her students to watch the Chinese Spectacular was a good way to teach them about Chinese culture
"It's quite strong actually, because it shows different eras, it shows different dynasties, different culture, different history, it's very nice, it's very well laid-out," Tong said after watching the Thursday's performance at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium with a 30-person group of her students and their parents.
"It's very catching, everything is very well-organized, …very synchronized, …everybody is very professional," she said.
Tong said she first heard about the Spectacular through her students, and then learned more about it through the internet.
She said she plans to bring more of her students to the show next year.
"It's fantastic," she said.
After traveling to 65 cities on four continents, the New York-based Divine Performing Arts dance company will wind up its 2008 international tour with one more show in Calgary on Friday, another in Cleveland on Saturday and three in Edmonton from May 5 to 7.
